Overview

Located in the vibrant El Poblado district of Medellín, Douraku offers an authentic slice of Japanese cuisine that stands out in the Colombian culinary scene. This small, intimate restaurant is a haven for ramen lovers and anyone eager to explore traditional Japanese flavors in a welcoming atmosphere.

The heart of Douraku’s menu lies in its carefully crafted ramens. From the rich, savory Ramen Clásico to creative local twists like the Ramen Paisa, each bowl brings a layered broth paired with tender, thinly sliced pork, perfectly cooked eggs, and fresh toppings such as bean sprouts, corn, or mushrooms. The Miso Ramen is a standout, praised for its balanced salty notes and satisfying depth of flavor. For adventurous palates, the Veggie and Mushrooms Ramen offers a hearty, plant-forward alternative without compromising on taste.

Appetizers and sides like Gyoza showcase Douraku’s attention to detail — handmade with a delicate dough that crisps beautifully on the outside while keeping a juicy filling inside. For something lighter and refreshing, their Cold Ramen variety is an intriguing choice, especially in Medellín’s warm climate.

Dessert adds a subtle yet memorable finish to the meal. The Mochi Ice Cream, including flavors like matcha complemented by sweet beans, provides a delicate sweetness that isn’t overwhelming but rather nuanced and refreshing.

Beyond the exceptional dishes, the experience at Douraku is enhanced by thoughtful touches rarely seen in casual eateries. The space, while modest and unpretentious, feels comfortable and intimate. The owners and staff stand out with their friendly, attentive service—often going beyond expectations to ensure guests enjoy their visit. Cleanliness is meticulous, with frequent sanitization and well-maintained table settings that include practical chopstick holders and ribbed chopsticks designed for ease.

Douraku also excels in the subtle details that elevate the dining experience: multilingual menus make it accessible to a diverse crowd, bamboo dividers create a cozy ambiance free from street noise, and an assortment of unique condiments invites guests to tailor flavors to their liking.

Given its setting in El Poblado, a hotspot for both locals and travelers, Douraku appeals to a wide audience—from ramen aficionados and food explorers to anyone craving a satisfying meal paired with a casual drink. Whether you’re stopping by after a day at Parque Poblado or seeking a comforting bowl of soup to unwind, Douraku promises quality, warmth, and a genuine taste of Japan in the heart of Medellín.

For those willing to try something beyond the familiar, Douraku offers not only excellent food but an experience refined by care and dedication—a true gem worth returning to time and again.

First time visiting Douraku, and I tried Ramen miso. It was sooo delicious!!! I absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone who's looking to taste a great Ramen, what an experience! Additionally, I tried matcha ice cream with sweet beans. Wow! It tastes very different from anything I've ever tried! Not too sweet, sutile flavors, but I couldn't stop eating it! Even though the place is not fancy, it is still a nice place to eat and drink a beer. I hope to come back any time soon!

Found this place on Google during my vacation. It was very close to parque poblado. I ordered the classic ramen; the broth, egg and pork were good. Didnt have alot of toppings, but satisfied my cravings for some ramen. People are friendly. Definitely would come again.

Small hole in the wall ramen place. We had the gyoza to start which was completely homemade, it had the perfect balance of filling to dough and was crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. For our main dishes we ordered the meat ramen and the miso ramen. The meat ramen was delicious, it was topped with bean sprouts and had thin sliced pork with an egg (soft or hard boiled, you choose). The miso ramen had thin sliced pork with a slightlier salty broth and corn, also with an egg of your choice. The service was great, they were friendly and helpful, even down to the chef who helped us with directions to get a taxi. If you like their chopsticks, you can purchase them for 25,000. The meal in total came to 64,000, for 2 green teas, gyoza, and 2 ramens. Portions of ramen were large, I couldn’t even finish mine and took it to-go.

Ramen in Colombia?! That's what I said too, but it's really good. Some of the best broth and definitely the best chasu I've ever had. The owner and staff were very friendly

One of the best restaurants in Medellín. The short; great food, great service, all of the little things done right. The long; This is one of the best restaurants in Medellín and I'll tell you why. The top three things are there: Great Food (flavor!), Great Service, Great Atmsophere. Any restaurant can have those and be great. To be the best takes more, much more. Having owned a restaurant, the best restaurants always have onsite owner(s) and do all of the little things right. Douraku meets all of those criteria. The little things: QR Code to access the internet (brilliant!), multi-language menus (Spanish, English, Japanese), balanced tables (my beer thanks you), bamboo wall coverings blocking the streets (no beggars), a variety of condiments not found in other restaurants (and in 3 languages), ribbed chopsticks make grabbing noodles easier (thank you!), both spoon and chopstick holders (no dirty tableware), spray alcohol on all tables (for the hypochondriac in you), tables cleaned multiple times before, during and after eating. These are the little things that make a great restaurant. This place is small and intimate. Do yourself a favor and call ahead for reservations, they will happily set a table aside for you. I have eaten here 3 to 5 times a week for more than a month and have never been disappointed. Get in and taste what a wonderful flavored soup should taste like, in a great environment with impeccable service. Thank me later! ありがとうございました

This is a really good ramen fix! I wasn't´t used to having butter in my noodles but apparently that´s what they do in Hokkaido (where the owner is from). The green tea ice scream was also very nice!

Awesome spot that we just happened to stumble in to. This is indeed authentic Japanese cuisine. Quick and friendly service from the staff. The food was absolutely delicious and the chef/owner came out to talk to us after our meal. We loved it and will be back for sure.

Best ramen I've had since living in Seattle, the miso was a religious experience within itself, the vegetable with chicken was outright fantastic, 10/10 recommend for people who want AUTHENTIC Japanese ramen.
